South Park: The Complete Twelfth Season [Blu-ray] Review

Season 12 of South Park in many places seems like old hat and a bit formulaic, but that's not necessarily a bad thing for this show as it remains one of the best things on TV ever made. The stronger episodes include the very fun "Major Boobage"; the multi-layered, highly relevant, and even at times surprising "Over-Logging"; and "Breast Cancer Show Ever" which features an epic fight between Eric Cartman and Wendy Testaberger- worth the price of admission alone. The season's weaker episodes include "Eek, a Penis," which tries to derive humor from shock value as the show often does but simply isn't that shocking; "Britney's New Look" and "The China Problem," which both have the problem of treading on a joke until it's just not funny anymore; and "About Last Night," which was simply formulaic and boring (relatively speaking for South Park; this same episode would have been a breakthrough of creative genius for The Simpsons or Family Guy). The two parter "Pan-demic" is an amusing send up of stupid "found-footage" horror films like Blair Witch and especially Cloverfield, but the story reaches quite a bit and probably could have been done in a single episode.

Love South Park and almost buy the complete seasons as a habit now... Wasn't as impressed this go round.

Excellent TV Show! I love the episodes, but the price for one season isn't necessarily comparable to a full season of some 1-hr TV Shows.
