The Land Before Time: The Wisdom of Friends Review
My daughter is way over the age of watching cartoons, but whenever she is home from school sick she still reaches for a Land Before Time movie. We have been watching the danged things for years and still get a laugh out of them. This is one of the two we didn't have and we enjoyed this one just as much as the others. They are not nauseatingly sweet or overly simplistic. They mix up the dino eras a bit, but it is easy to forgive them because the characters are really pretty timeless.
The Land Before Time: The Wisdom of Friends Overview
Get ready for lots of laughs with your favorite prehistoric pals and their new friends in their funniest journey ever! Featuring memorable new songs and the hilarious voice talents of Academy Award® winner Cuba Gooding Jr. and Golden Globe® winner Sandra Oh (Grey's Anatomy), it's an adventure filled with dino-riffic fun and heartwarming friendship!
Littlefoot, Cera, Spike, Petrie and Ducky are excited to meet two goofy and lovable yellow-bellied Beipiaosauruses, Loofah and Doofah, who have lost their way while traveling to the distant Berry Valley. Loofah and Doofah seem to be too clumsy to find the way back, so Littlefoot and the others decide to help their new friends while sharing important life lessons called Wisdoms along the way. By the time they reach Berry Valley, Littlefoot realizes that even though the Yellow Bellies don't follow his Wisdoms very well, their silly techniques work just fine.
The Land Before Time: The Wisdom of Friends Specifications
Every species passes down certain guiding wisdoms from one generation to another in hopes of preserving, prolonging, and bettering the lives of their offspring. While Little Foot and his dinosaur friends Petrie, Cera, Spike, and Ducky are only young dinosaurs, their elders have taught them that they must always stay with the group, be home before dark, and keep their eyes and ears open. When three strange yellow belly dinosaurs show up in the valley, it is quickly apparent that they are hopelessly ignorant of the wisdoms Little Foot and his friends hold true and it seems their quest to find Berry Valley and join the rest of their herd is destined to failure without the aid of Little Foot and his friends. Striking off toward new lands, Little Foot and the gang save their new friends Doofah, Loofah, and Foobie from certain death at the hands of the sharp teeth several times, but eventually the young friends realize that although the yellow bellies may not heed the wisdoms they're familiar with, the yellow bellies have some instinctual habits of their own that safeguard them very well. Lots of catchy music permeates this fun, animated, 76-minute adventure and the wholesome message about heeding the lessons of parents, grandparents, and other elders comes through clearly without seeming didactic. Bonus features include the television episode "The Hidden Canyon" in which Little Foot's and his friends' failure to tell the other dinosaurs about a secret place full of tree sweets endangers the entire herd's existence, two interactive DVD games, and two sing-along songs. Wisdom of Friends - Carrol Greenwood -
A good addition to my Land Before Time collection. I enjoy positive movies, especially when teaching values to children. They will be viewed over and over by great-grandchildren. I hope many more episodes are in the works!
2 1/2 year old loves it! - C. Henderson - St. Cloud, Mn United States
Silly and adorable. My 2 1/2 year old grandson loves this video. The T-Rex's might scare a tiny one if they are not already "into" dinosaurs. We watch it together so I am there to explain things. Great teachable moments.
