Check Out Barnyard - The Original Party Animals (Widescreen Edition) for $4.82

Barnyard - The Original Party Animals (Widescreen Edition) Review

Barnyard - The Original Party Animals (Widescreen Edition) Overview

Move over, all you pretenders...here are the original party animals – the animated gang of Barnyard! This laugh-filled adventure stars Otis, a carefree cow who spends his days singing, dancing and playing tricks on humans...much to the dismay of his father, Ben. Wild, wacky and "udderly" hilarious, here’s a herd of animated pranksters that’ll keep you laughing out loud!

Barnyard - The Original Party Animals (Widescreen Edition) Specifications

When the farmer's back is turned, the animals party down in Barnyard. A young cow named Otis (voiced by Kevin James, The King of Queens) loves to have fun at the farm's wild late-night hoe-downs, despite the disapproval of his father, Ben (Sam Elliott, Thank You for Smoking). When Ben dies defending the barnyard from marauding coyotes, Otis is chosen as the new leader--but responsibility sits uneasily on Otis' head and he fears he may not be able to protect his friends from the coyotes. Barnyard's design of the cows seems inspired by Gary Larson's The Far Side comics; though the style is simple, the characters are surprisingly expressive. From moment to moment, the movie is reasonably entertaining. The actors--including Courteney Cox, Danny Glover, and David Koechner (Anchorman) as a very menacing coyote--do solid voice work and there are plenty of amusing gags. But as Barnyard gallops towards its end, the combination of cliches (the story is a clumsy reworking of The Lion King), odd choices (the male cows have udders), and lackluster dialogue makes the movie sag. --Bret Fetzer

Check Out Scooby-Doo's Original Mysteries for $4.11

Scooby-Doo's Original Mysteries Review

I remember watching every single one of these episodes when I was a child. They are still great thirty years later.

The DVD has the first season of the original Scooby Doo series. The episodes are in order and are exactly as they were on television. There is a theme song at the beginning and end making each episode complete. Then there is a dark screen for a few seconds and the next episode begins with the theme song again.

Great for new and old Scooby Fans alike.

Scooby-Doo's Original Mysteries Overview

IT'S THE START OF A BOO-TIFUL FRIENDSHIP WHEN SCOOBY AND SHAGGY GET UP-CLOSE AND SPOOKY WITH SOME SUPERNATURAL SIBLINGS. SPECIAL FEATURES: SCOOBY-DOO MUSIC VIDEO, JUKEBOX FEATURING ORIGINAL SCOOBY-DOO SONGS, SCOOBY SNACKS RECIPES AND SCOOBY-DOO TRIVIA.

Scooby-Doo's Original Mysteries Specifications

"Well, gang, it looks like we're up to our armor plates in another mystery." Oddly enough, this line comes from the very first episode of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?, the part-mystery, part-haunted house animated series that premiered in 1969. The first five episodes are featured on Scooby-Doo's Original Mysteries, in which Freddy, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and of course the practical-joking Great Dane Scooby-Doo drive around the country in their lime-green van "The Mystery Machine" investigating haunted castles, ghost towns, and a host of alleged otherworldly beings. Ventriloquist, gymnast, and resident hippie Shaggy and fraidy-cat canine Scooby provide the comic relief between clues, and can usually be bribed into anything with a yummy Scooby snack (the ingredients of which remain the show's real mystery). Sure, the animation is flat, the music receptive, and the jokes not nearly as funny as the laugh track would have you think, but that's par for Saturday morning animation. If you grew up with Scooby and the gang, these original episodes are like a nostalgia train to Saturday morning yesteryear, yet after 30 years the shows have hardly aged (even beatnik Shaggy could pass for modern grunge). The DVD also features an abbreviated music video (not as good as Matthew Sweet's rendition of the theme song on Saturday Morning Cartoons) and a trivia quiz. The episodes: "What a Night for a Knight," "Hassle in the Castle," "A Clue for Scooby Doo," "Mine Your Own Business," and "Decoy from a Dognapper." --Sean Axmaker

You can't go through life with out seeing these old school Scooby classics! Scooby Doo has always been one of my favorites and this DVD with some of the first episodes is great. I even have my daughter watching it. This should definitely be on everyone's DVD shelf.
