Charlie & Lola 11: I Really Need Actual Ice Skates Overview

Just in time for the holidays, it’s a new DVD from Playhouse Disney’s most lovable siblings, Charlie and Lola! Having begged Granny and Grandpa for a scooter, Lola suddenly decides that she now wants a pair of real, actual ice-skates. Everyone is dubious. Charlie reminds her she felt the same about her old yo-yo and Dad warns her that he doesn’t want to find the ice-skates in the bottom of her cupboard. But Lola is adamant, she needs actual ice-skates because they are sparkly and white, and when she gets them, she will be the best ice-skaterer in the whole school. But it's not quite that simple.

Animaniacs, Vol. 1 Overview

Steven Spielberg Presents Animaniacs! The adventures or misadventures of the Warner Brothers, Yakko and Wakko, and the Warner Sister, Dot, who were so crazy that the studio execs locked them away in the water town at the Studio. The witty, slapstick humor with pop culture parodies and cartoon wackiness is on DVD for the first time ever with 25 fantastic Animaniacs episodes.

Animaniacs, Vol. 1 Specifications

As a splendid homage to the legacy of Warner Bros. animation, the Emmy and Peabody award-winning Animaniacs was arguably the most inventive and deliriously entertaining cartoon series of the 1990s. The series' appeal is at least two-fold: kids will enjoy the wacky characters and easy-to-follow comedy, and grownups raised on "Looney Tunes" and "Merrie Melodies" cartoons will love the show's knowledgeable movie spoofs, witty satire, and spontaneous lines of dialogue aimed squarely at an older audience with an appreciation for Hollywood history. Cartoon lovers and film buffs will benefit the most from repeated viewings of Animaniacs since the series was conceived by head writer Tom Ruegger (under the supervision of executive producer Steven Spielberg) as an affectionate tribute to the golden age of Hollywood, with its wild and wonderful cast of cartoon characters led by "Warner Brothers" Wakko and Yakko, and their ever-so-cute Warner sister, Dot, a playful trio of indeterminate species who were (fictionally) created in the early 1930s by the overworked animators of "Termite Terrace" (the actual name given to Warner's animation studios) and wreaked havoc on the Warner Bros. backlot until they were caught and captured in the studio's water tower. Every episode begins with their clever escape, leading to wacky adventures involving the entire cast of Animaniacs, a menagerie of colorful characters worthy of cartoon immortality.

This five-DVD set offers 25 beautifully preserved episodes (out of a five-season total of 99), mostly from the first season (1993), when Spielberg was also enjoying the success of Jurassic Park and Schindler's List. Premiering on the Fox Kids network, the series introduced delighted viewers to Pinky and the Brain; Slappy the Squirrel (a curmudgeonly veteran of decades in show-biz); the Goodfeathers (a pigeon-trio spoof of Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas); Rita and Runt (a dog and cat duo often featured in musical spoofs, the former voiced by Bernadette Peters); and a wide variety of peripheral characters who randomly appeared as part of the series' multi-segment format. Some segments are brief and brilliant (including many original songs that qualify as mini-masterpieces of educational entertainment), while others are cartoon-length adventures like the unforgettable "Bumbie's Mom," a riff on Bambi (and Disney animation) that's one of many first-season highlights. Smart, literate, and totally irreverent, Animaniacs benefited from all the prestige that Spielberg's involvement could bring, including a once-in-a-lifetime voice cast (honored here by disc 3's special featurette "Animaniacs Live," hosted by "Annie"-award-winner Maurice "The Brain" LeMarche) and amazing musical scores (many written or supervised by the late, great Richard Stone) that were recorded in the very same Warner studio where the legendary Carl Stalling scored most of the classic Warner Bros. cartoons. With creative and comedic highlights too numerous to mention, Animaniacs is must-see TV for those who missed it the first time around, and a welcome treasure for established fans who will cherish these DVDs for many years to come. --Jeff Shannon

Challenge of the Super Friends - The First Season (DC Comics Classic Collection) Review

Challenge of the Super Friends - The First Season (DC Comics Classic Collection) Overview

CHALLENGE OF THE SUPER FRIENDS:SEASON - DVD Movie

Challenge of the Super Friends - The First Season (DC Comics Classic Collection) Specifications

Challenge of the Super Friends is the ultimate animated all-star contest of good versus evil. The original Super Friends (running from 1973 to 1977--Wonder Twins and Gleek anyone??) was made up of the greatest DC Comics superheroes fighting together to uphold justice for all mankind. Overall, it was a pretty good show, but getting stale very fast. In 1978, the superhero animation bar was raised high when the first (and only) season of Challenge of the Super Friends hit the Saturday morning circuit. Immediately these 16 episodes made up the best that Super Friends had to offer for one reason alone: the creation of the Legion of Doom, banding together the 13 most sinister villains of all-time from remote galaxies. Led by the sinister genius of Lex Luthor, the Legion of Doom was dedicated to take over the universe, and only the Super Friends, led by Superman, Wonder Woman and the Dynamic Duo, dared to challenge this intergalactic threat and bring them to justice.

There is no denying that animated superhero shows have come a long way since Super Friends. The Challenge of the Super Friends is very '70s in presentation, riddled with inconsistencies and drawing mistakes, and allowing heroes to fly even if they couldn't fly in the comics. However, there is no denying the staying power of the stories, its concept, the superheroes/villains pairing and its overall charm. Included in this set are a couple of nice features, particularly the superheroes/villains biographies, each with their own mini-video. There is also a good, brief documentary of today's comic book and TV show creators reflecting on their impressions of Challenge of the Super Friends and its influence on their careers. If you want to take a trip down memory lane to the Hall of Justice or the swamps of the Hall of Doom, you will not be disappointed by this set. --Rob Bracco

There's just one shopping day until Christmas! Fred is so wrapped up in his acting debut as Scrooge in the Bedrock production of "A Christmas Carol" that he's completely forgotten to buy any gifts. And worse, he's left baby Pebbles stranded at Cave Care Center! But wife Wilma and a few familiar ghosts perform a true Christmas miracle, helping hubby Fred remember the true meaning of the season. Join Barney, Betty, Bam Bam, and Dino in this hilarious stone-age version of the magical holiday classic.

A Flintstones Christmas Carol Specifications

Baste the turkeysaurus and head over to Bloomingshale's for some last-minute shopping; it's Christmastime in Bedrock. Fred and the gang have more than the usual festive preparations up their prehistoric sleeves, however, as they are staging a production of "The Christmas Carol" with Fred in the role of Scrooge. Things take a frightening turn when--in the classic tradition of method acting--Fred takes his role to heart and becomes a bit humbuggish himself. So preoccupied with his role is he, that he forgets to pick up Pebbles from day care, leaves Christmas shopping off his list of things to do, and belittles the parts played by his friends (such as Barney as Bob Cratchit). When the Bedrock bug (a flu virus) begins to fell cast members, it provides the ideal opportunity for costume maker and stage manager Wilma to take on understudy duties and scare some sense into her self-absorbed husband. And just in time for Christmas Eve. God bless them, every one. (Ages 2 and older.) --Kimberly Heinrichs

Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow Overview

NARUTO:MOVIE:NINJA CLASH IN THE LAND - DVD Movie

Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow Specifications

The first feature based on the popular adventure-comedy Naruto, Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow takes knuckle-headed ninja-in-training Naruto Uzumaki to an unexpected place: a film set. With Sakura, Sasuke, and Kakashi-sensei, he must protect Yukie Fujikaze, the temperamental star of a series of period melodramas. Yukie is rude to her fans (including Naruto), throws tantrums, gets drunk, and mistreats her co-workers. But she doesn't seem to be in any danger until the director decides to shoot her new film in the Land of Snow. In the frozen north, the ninja bodyguards discover Yukie is really Koyuki Kazehana, the long-lost princess of an icebound realm that's been usurped by her evil uncle Doto. Naruto and his friends use exotic jutsu (and plain brute strength) to defeat Doto's minions. The Naruto TV series takes place in a timeless Neverland, and the regular characters feel out of place in a modern setting, making jokes about movie-making. But the film plays like an extended episode of the show, with Naruto's boy-scout-from-the-wrong-side-of-the-tracks determination and perseverance winning the day--as his fans expect. (Unrated, suitable for ages 12 and older: violence, alcohol use) --Charles Solomon

The Scooby-Doo Dynomutt Hour - The Complete Series Specifications

Scooby-Doo, Where are You! was a pivotal television program created by Hanna-Barbera in 1969 that changed children's programming by juxtaposing a group of everyday kids and their goofy dog with truly frightening monsters and elaborate mysteries. After its initial success on CBS, Scooby-Doo moved to ABC and, in 1976, was paired with the new show Dynomutt--a show that built upon Scooby-Doo's success by extending a similar formula to the world of superheroes. In this complete Scooby-Doo Dynomutt series, 16 pairs of episodes follow the Scooby-Doo gang and Dynomutt and Blue Falcon as they solve crimes that involve everything from modern day burglars and skyscraper construction crews to a cave man seeking a college education and newly awakened Aztec ghosts. In the Scooby-Doo cartoons, a nervous Scooby-Doo and Shaggy inevitably manage to stumble upon crucial clues, the accident-prone Daphne always seems to endanger the entire group with her missteps, and the brainy Velma seems destined to solve every mystery with her infallible intellect. Scooby-Doo's cousin Scooby-Dum is introduced in this series in "The Gruesome Game of the Gator Ghoul" and even Shaggy's uncle, the magician Zarko, makes an appearance in "Scared a Lot in Camelot." Harrowing chases and an overwhelming preoccupation with food and Scooby Snacks are, of course, a given. Dynomutt features the ever-malfunctioning mechanical Dog Wonder Dynomutt--a sidekick who, despite being endowed with an amazing array of technical gadgets, consistently impedes the Batman-like superhero Blue Falcon's efforts to save Big City from a ceaseless progression of criminals. Somehow the odd pair always manages to solve the crime and capture the bad guys, keeping Big City safe until the next villain's crime spree. Bonus features include the "Eerie Mystery of Scooby-Doo and Dynomutt's History" that details the creation of both Scooby-Doo and Dynomutt and features interviews with television executive Fred Silverman, Scooby-Doo creative producer Iwao Takamoto, Dynomutt head writer Joe Ruby, and many others vital to the creation of the two cartoons. "In Their Own Words" features reminiscences by voice talents like Casey Kasem (Shaggy), Don Messick (Scooby-Doo), Gary Owens (Blue Falcon) and Frank Welker (Freddy and Dynomutt); and "The Scooby-Doo Dynomutt Files" offers a collection of original still sketches from the Hanna-Barbera Vault. What's new is that the Mystery Machine finally comes equipped with seatbelts, not to mention the newly installed global positioning system. The updated WB series also features a new theme song. Dastardly & Muttley in Their Flying Machines - The Complete Series Review

"Dastardly & Muttley in Their Flying Machines" (1969) was a great TV show from Hanna-Barbera productions broadcast in France in 1970s as "L'escadrille infernale". This TV show follows the famous "Wacky Races" (1968) known as "Les fous du volant" in France. Dick Dastardly and Muttley (Satanas and Diabolo in French) are again together for new adventures! This time, they pursue a pigeon which carries important information! Which one? Nobody will ever know in my opinion, even the writers and producers of the TV show themselves! The general in charge of operations occurs only through a field telephone looking as any conventional ones! This field telephone must have a very very very long cable since it rings in any location (on earth and in the sky) at any time during the show! Dick Dastardly leads the Vulture Squadron, a World War I flying "exotic" machines! Exotic is quite close to the reality of the show! The main reason for their persistence in this task is the reward of a temporary 30 days all expenses paid in the country of their choice! Of course, the pigeon will not give them any opportunity to get this award.

This TV show features similar to screenwriting and situation comedy with the adventures of "Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote" known as "Bip Bip et le Coyote" in France! Maybe because Michael Maltese was influenced by the outstanding writing and directing work of Chuck Jones. But the stories of "Dastardly & Muttley in Their Flying Machines" are very innovative and fun anyway. The design of aircraft defies the laws of aerodynamics and mostly gravity! It's not very serious in the light of the length of telephone cable needed for the field telephone of Dick Dastardly. Muttley desperate to receive medals! He dreams to receive many! And when he gets one, Dick hastened to withdraw this tiny one. Of course, Muttley disagrees and shows his teeth like any good dog! That is the "standard" hard life of any good squadron leader I suppose during World War I!

The picture quality is good! The soundtrack and the subtitles are available in English, French and Spanish. Highly recommended!

Pokemon Movie - Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea Overview

It all started with a legend passed down from the People of the Water... Somewhere in this world, there is a Sea Temple created by the People of the Water. The Sea Temple contains a hidden treasure called the Sea Crown, but no one has ever seen the Sea Crown, or even the Sea Temple, because the temple is protected by a secret mechanism. The temple drifts through a vast ocean undetected, waiting... waiting...
Ash and Pikachu meet Lizabeth, a descendant of the People of the Water, and learn about the legend. They also meet Jackie, a Pokémon Ranger on a secret mission to protect a Manaphy egg (Manaphy is mysteriously known as The Prince of the Sea) and find the Sea Temple as well. The Phantom plans to obtain the Sea Crown and take over the world - but first he needs the Manaphy egg. Now Lizabeth and Ash must help Jackie protect the egg and stop the nefarious pirate! What is the Sea Crown? How does Manaphy's mysterious power connect it to the Sea Temple? Can Ash help Jackie complete his mission?

Pokemon Movie - Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea Specifications

The ninth movie (2006) in this popular franchise is closer in tone to Lucario and the Mystery of Mew (2005) than to the earlier, scarier Pokémon features. Ash, Brock, May, and Max meet the Marina Group, a troupe of friendly entertainers who are connected to the ancient Sea People. They're also linked to Manaphy, a rare Pokémon who can locate their lost Temple. Ash and his friends help the Marina Group and follow Manaphy under the sea. They get additional aid from Pokémon Ranger Jackie Walker, and they need it: pirates want to seize the long-lost Crown of the Sea from the Temple, and Team Rocket can't resist the lure of treasure. Ash comes through in the end, preventing the destruction of the Temple, while ensuring the safety of May, Manaphy, and Pikachu. Pokemon Ranger and Temple of the Sea includes a lot of needlessly elaborate CG effects for water, submarines, and helicopters. The second disc is Pikachu's Island Adventure, a 20-minute short about Pikachu rallying his friends to defeat Meowth and a group of bullies. As always, friendship and teamwork triumph over greed and unkindness. (Unrated, suitable for ages 6 and older: cartoon violence) --Charles Solomon

This would have been better as a single DVD release - Lesley Aeschliman - Enumclaw, WA
Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea is the ninth film in the Pokemon franchise, and was directed by Kunihiko Yuyama, and it was released as a two-disc set. On the first DVD, you can play the movie, choose which scene you want to start watching the movie at, and you can choose to have English captions for the Hearing Impaired. Three special features are included on this disc. The first is "Location Scouting." This documentary runs for about ten minutes, and it shows the director and the crew scouting out locations in Italy to help inspire the locations in the film. It also include interviews with the director, the writer, and the composer; however, whenever they speak, an English narrator speaks over them instead of seeing subtitles on the screen. Next is "Art Slideshow." This feature runs for one minute and ten seconds, and only features production art of the characters that were designed specifically for this film. Also, the viewer has no control over when the images change on the screen. The final extra is labeled as "Interactive." It's a splash screen that promotes the official Pokemon website, the Pokemon Learning League, and Pokemon Mobile.

The second disc contains "Pikachu's Island Adventure," the short that accompanied the film when it aired in Japanese theaters. In the short. Pikachu and the other Pokemon traveling with Ash and his friends are going to play on an island that's full of fun and adventure. However, they encounter some Wynaut and a couple of Pichu who were chased off the island by Meowth and its gang. It's up to Pikachu and friends to teach the Wynaut and Pichu how to stand up for themselves. This was the first of the shorts to be dubbed by The Pokemon Company, and a decision was made to have the narrator give dialogue for the Pokemon in addition to hearing the Pokemon make their natural noises when they speak. I personally didn't like this, as it felt like the narrator was talking down to the audience. I also thought it was a little insulting that The Pokemon Company felt the audience wasn't smart enough to be able to figure out what was going on through the images on the screen. However, this short was the only item included on the disc. Personally, I thought this was a waste. It would have been better to include the short on the first DVD, and to have released Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea as a single disc.

The movie is one of the longer films in the Pokemon franchise, but it's still good viewing if you enjoy Pokemon. The major downside is how much 3D animation the director tried to include, and just how much the 3D animation sticks out like a sore thumb in comparison to the elements that were animated with traditional animation. Even with the issues I have with this release, I would still recommend it to Pokemon fans, especially ones who want to have a complete Pokemon DVD collection.

Hey it's Pokemon! - lilbikersis -
I bought this for my nephew for Christmas. I think he just wanted to have it to remind him of younger fun times!

Manaphy - The Worlds Most Annoying Pokemon - E. David Swan - South Euclid, Ohio USA
When I first started watching Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea it seemed like a dramatic visual upgrade from the previous movies. The colors are extremely bright and it mixes in a lot of nice CGI but the longer I watched it the less impressed I became. The character animation is mediocre at best and the backgrounds are only decent and the whole thing was just overly shiny. I much prefer the art from the Diamond/Pearl series that started with Rise of Darkrai. As with all the movies the plot centers around a hard to get legendary Pokemon, in this case Manaphy who was only available by playing Pokemon Ranger for the DS. Manaphy is the single most annoying Pokemon I have ever seen. I know that the language of most Pokemon is limited to repeating their own names but good Lord, Manaphy just continues to repeat `Mana, Mana, Mana' over and over and over again until it becomes torturous. Adults beware; this is one Pokemon that will irritate you to no end even if you're only hearing it from the next room over. In fact if your child is watching the movie in the next room you'll likely only hear Manaphy's shrill whine repeating Mana, Mana, Mana for what will seam like an eternity.

The protagonist of the story is Captain Phantom (think Captain Crunch with more attitude) and his group of sharp dressed pirates. They're in a quest against the Pokemon Rangers to get Manaphy, who can lead them to the treasure laden Sea Temple. The story isn't going to win any creativity awards. Now normally I like pirates and stories that take place in the Caribbean but this one just did not capture my attention. Maybe it was just the `Mana, Mana, Mana, Happy, Happy, Happy' that just drove me to distraction but I really didn't get into it at all and the ending was just goofy. This is one movie that will probably only appeal to young Pokemon fans. I would suggest skipping this one and heading straight to the Diamond/Pearl movies which are probably the only Pokemon movies that will appeal to viewers older than preteen.

Not the best Pokemon movie - Hark - CA
The reason for my 2 star review is that as a Pokemon Movie, it doesn't really deliver what id expect. What i love most about Pokemon are the battles, the adventure and the laughs, Though this, like most of Ashs adventures is a big one, the story seemed bland and uninteresting to me, there were not enough Pokemon battles, not enough action and laughs. Me and a friend tried to watch it, but we were bored by the beginning half of the movie, and we just finished it cause we felt obligated, since i had just bought it. If those are the reasons you like Pokemon, pass on this movie, your not missing out on much.

Naruto Shippuden - The Movie Review

I recently bought Naruto Shippuden- The Movie for my kids and they loved it! There was plenty of action for them and a couple funny moments plus at the end some of their favorite characters show up to help Naruto. You have to watch this movie if you're a big naruto fan. It's about naruto helping this girl {i forgot her name} but she recently had a vision if Naruto was going to live... or die during their mission.
Features Naruto, Sakura, Neji, Lee and the priestess. To know what happens in this adventure or what happens to naruto you have to watch the movie. YOU WILL ENJOY!

Naruto Shippuden - The Movie Overview

A powerful spirit that once threatened to destroy the world is back! Naruto’s mission is to protect a priestess named Shion, who is the only once with the power to seal away the monster. She also has the uncanny ability to predict someone’s fate. Her latest prediction: Naruto will soon die. Naruto's only hope is to abandon Shion, but that’s not Naruto's style. He decides to face her fatal prediction head-on---and die!

Naruto Shippuden - The Movie Specifications

The first of three theatrical features, Naruto Shippuden--the Movie (2007) provides a visually striking, action-packed introduction to the second series of adventures of ninja-in-training Naruto Uzumaki. Sinister ninja use black magic medical jutsu to raise the spirit of the long-imprisoned demon Moryo. If Moryo's body is also resurrected, he will establish a Thousand Year Kingdom that will mean the end of life on Earth as humans know it. Only Shion, the priestess of the Land of Ogres, can stop Moryo by keeping his body sealed within a hidden temple. A special squad from the Village Hidden in the Leaves--Neji, Sakura, Rock Lee, and Naruto--is assigned to protect Shion on her journey there. Director Hajime Kamegaki uses CG to create a terracotta army copied from the celebrated figures from Emperor Qin Shi Huang's tomb in Xian. The scenes of marching clay automatons, impervious to ordinary weapons, pack a real punch, although they don't always blend with the drawn characters. Kamegaki balances these dire threats with plenty of physical comedy: Naruto boasts and blunders and stumbles; Rock Lee defeats his foe after eating a liquor-filled chocolate, re-creating his version of Jackie Chan's "drunken fist" technique in the "Chase for Sasuke" story arc. For Naruto fans, the movie is a must-have. (Rated Teen+ Older Teen, but suitable for ages 12 and older: violence, grotesque imagery, brief nudity, alcohol use) --Charles Solomon

Naruto the Movie - Taylor -
I thought that this movie was awesome! A great movie to start off the Shippuden Series. The batte scenes are impressive, especially Lee's! I love the fact that Shion, the priestess would predict Naruto's death. But the only way to escape her fatal prediction, is to abandon Shion. But that's not the type of thing Naruto would do. I also love how it swears in it, and theres blood. But you don't really see much of that in this movie. But, other then that, this movie is really good. I watch it atleast twice a week, possibly more. I would recommend this to all Naruto Fans out there!

nice to see other ninjas fight - C. Pearson - Tennessee
Nice to see other ninjas fight!

Neji and Lee have been getting the shaft on screen time.

Overall, it is the best naruto movie I have seen. If you are a fan of Neji or Lee, might be the only was to see them both fight out side of the gaara arc.

It's a Naruto Movie - Charles Stuckey - Florida
Like most of the Naruto movies, this one is a mini-story that's basically an extended episode. While good to watch from a Naruto fan standpoint, also like most of the movies it has little relevance to the plot of the series and follows a formulaic plotline. It's as good as most of the movies.

Inuyasha, The Movie 3 - Swords of an Honorable Ruler Review

This is the best of the Inuyasha movies. I just wished they had shown more about the father. Sesshoumaru at the beginning of the movie says he has no need of anybody to protect. He never notices he slowly gathers his folowers(Rin and Jaken) whom he protects for whatever reason. Inuyasha has followers, too. The two sons are just like their father, though neither would ever admit it.
If you are unfamiliar with Inuyasha start with the first movie, which recaps the origin story.

Inuyasha, The Movie 3 - Swords of an Honorable Ruler Overview

Many years ago, the Great Dog Demon wielded the Three Swords of the Fang. Upon his death, he bequeathed a sword to each of his sons, Inuyasha and Sesshomaru, leaving the third sword, the wrath-filled Sounga, locked away forever. Now that the Sounga’s power has been awakened, these two battling brothers must put away their sibling rivalry and face off against a force that spells doom for all mankind!

Inuyasha, The Movie 3 - Swords of an Honorable Ruler Specifications

Swords of an Honorable Ruler is darker and more dramatic than the two previous Inu-Yasha features--or the broadcast series. Inu-Yasha's father Inu no Taisho, the Great Dog Demon, possessed not two but three swords: Tetsusaiga, Tenseiga, and Sounga, which are linked to Earth, Heaven, and Hell, respectively. After the human princess Izayoi gave birth to Inu-Yasha, she was killed by Takemaru, a samurai who loved her from afar. Inu no Taisho died soon after; the sword smith Totosai and Myoga the flea hid the first two swords, according their master's instructions, and sealed away Sounga. Seven centuries later, Sounga has become one of the treasures of the Higurashi family shrine. During what should be an ordinary ritual, Sounga is freed and returns to the past through the Bone Eater's Well. The bloodthirsty spirit of the sword raises the soul of Takemaru and begins a campaign of hideous destruction. Can Inu-Yasha, Kagome, Shippo, Miroku, Sango, and Sesshomaru defeat the sword-ghoul--individually or collectively?

In addition to being more violent than other Inu-Yasha films, Swords of an Honorable Ruler is more lavish, with lots of CG special effects and a score by Kaoru Wada that evokes The Rite of Spring. Director Toshiya Shinohara keeps things movie so briskly, the viewer doesn't have time to miss Naraku, Kikyo, or the Shikon Jewel, although the final battle goes on far too long. The drama and passion of Swords of an Honorable Ruler will delight Inu-Yasha fans. (Rated PG-13: violence, grotesque imagery, minor risqué humor) --Charles Solomon

Inuyasha 3 - Racheile M. Ricklefs - Fl
Very good movie, I did have to return the DVD becasue of scratched and it would not play, but besides that I was able to reorder and correct it very quickly and everything was made very easy!

The third film for the Inuyasha franchise - Lesley Aeschliman - Enumclaw, WA
Swords of an Honorable Ruler is the third of four films in the Inuyasha franchise. During the course of the film, Inuyasha and his brother, Sesshomaru (who hate each other), must team up together in order to defeat the enemy. But can these feuding brothers put aside their rivalry long enough to save the day?

There are seven special features on the DVD. The first is a Line Art Gallery, which is split into two sections: Characters and Settings. There are forty pages of character model sheets under the "Characters" section. The "Settings" section contains thirty-two pages of settings.

The "Special Footage" link is next, and it takes you to a feature that runs a little over twenty-six minutes. This footage recaps some of the important moments in the series that tie in to Inuyasha and Sesshomaru's rivalry.

Next, there are the Japanese trailers for Swords of an Honorable Ruler, with a trailer for the fourth Inuyasha film included at the end. These run for about five minutes, but they are all in Japanese with no English subtitles. There are also Viz Media trailers, a one screen ad for the Inuyasha graphic novels, a one screen ad for the Inuyasha trading card game, and a preview for the Inuyasha Feudal Combat video game (which looks a lot like Inuyasha characters are put into a game that is played in the same manner as the Street Fighter games).

Overall, Swords of an Honorable Ruler is an excellent film. The runtime for the film is perfect for the story being told. This DVD should be in the collection of anyone who appreciates the Inuyasha anime series.

It's good.... - Rachel Jonas - Chattanooga, TN United States
It's good if you like InuYasha. There is a small plot hole in the way that Inu-Papa dies, but over all it's a good movie. It shows that Sesshoumaru is starting to have a Grinch moment and his heart is starting to grow. I liked it so much that I went out and bought all the movies in box set.
